Tips: How to choose a right inverter
There are two kinds of loads: resistive load and inductive load.
The loads like laptop, TV, electric cooker, LED light... are resistive loads. As long as the rated wattage of the load is less than the wattage the inverter can handle, it's fine. Just Choose the inverter with continuous power higher than the appliance's rated power. The loads like printer, drill, saw, mixer, pump, compressor, motor...are inductive loads. Usually inductive loads will need 3-9 times current than the rated when it initiates. For example, for a Brother HL2040 laser printer, the rated wattage is 450W. The inverters surge rating should be able to handle 6.5 times the maximum power of the printer, which is around 3000W.
